usersUsersFirst, a United Spinal Association program promoting greater access to appropriate wheelchairs, mobility scooters, and seating systems, announces that it has developed a new Mobile Registration Form. The form is intended to rally wheelchair users and disability advocates to challenge disability policies and improve access to mobility equipment.

According to a recent news release, the form allows UsersFirst to assist wheelchair users, when necessary, in addressing private, state, and federal policy issues through timely alerts.

Ann Eubank, UsersFirst, LMSW, OTR/L, ATP, CAPS, UsersFirst vice president of Community Initiatives, outlines the driving force behind the form, which aims to, “make it easier to join UsersFirst’s grassroots movement to improve access to wheelchairs and other mobility equipment that are essential to the health and independence of Americans living with disabilities,” Eubank says.

The release notes that new registrants will also be provided with education and support regarding the process of obtaining the appropriate wheelchair to accommodate their medical needs and lifestyle. The form is slated to be introduced at the 2013 International Seating Symposium (ISS) March 5 to 9.

Eubank adds that ISS, “is the perfect venue to continue strengthening and amplifying the voice of wheelchair users and advocates across the country. The Mobile Registration Form will be a key component in this effort,” Eubank emphasizes.
