McKenzie reportedly went on to develop the McKenzie Method of Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (MDT) in the 1950’s and devoted his professional life to the study of musculoskeletal disorders and their treatment. McKenzie founded The McKenzie Institute International in 1982 and spearheaded its growth into a worldwide educational organization with a total of 28 braches worldwide. The organization reports that to date, physiotherapists, doctors, chiropractors, and other allied health professionals in 37 different countries have been educated in the McKenzie Method and notes that the expansion of The McKenzie Institute’s Education Program continues to grow.
The McKenzie Institute credits its founder’s family for supporting him early on in his professional career, celebrating his achievements, and supporting him through his illness.
