Safeway Safety Step LLC, Fairfield, Ohio, has recently been recognized by two national organizations known for their service and education in aiding caregivers and seniors remaining in their homes or aging in place. The Safeway Step is a product and installation method designed to provide an economical renovation option for individuals and facilities seeking more user-friendly access into the bathtub area, and can be used to retrofit an existing bathtub into a walk-in shower.

The National Aging In Place Council (NAIPC) identified the product as one of its Top Ten Product Ideas for Practical Advice when aging in place. The NAIPC lists products that: "can make your home more comfortable and your life simpler and safer." The NAIPC is a senior support network working together to solve problems seniors face. NAIPC was founded on the belief that an overwhelming majority of older Americans want to remain in their homes for as long as possible, but lack awareness of home and community-based services that make independent living possible.

Today’s Caregiver magazine and caregiver.com awarded the product a 2010 Caregiver Friendly Award. These awards celebrate products, services, books, and media created with the needs of caregivers in mind.

The company offers multiple bath accessibility products to provide easier accessibility to the existing bathtub for a lower-cost alternative versus tearing-out the existing bathtub.

The Safeway Tub Door is a product and installation method designed to add a water-tight sealable door to an existing bathtub. Installation  includes cutting and removing a section of the existing tub and custom-fitting the resulting opening with the product.

The various bathtub modifications provide bathtub retrofit options with or without a door that can be installed in 2 to 3 hours, according to the company.
