According to the Community for Accredited Online Schools, the occupational therapy program at Daytona State College ranks tops for a 4-year school, and Houston Community College has the top occupational program at a 2-year school.

Rounding out the list (4-year schools) are: State College of Florida Manatee-Sarasota, Madison Area Technical College, Southwestern Oklahoma State University and Florida State College at Jacksonville. The other top 2-year schools are: Eastern New Mexico University – Roswell Campus, South Arkansas Community College, Cape Fear Community College and Itawamba Community College.

The website lists the entirety of schools offering the Best Occupational Therapy Programs for 2016.

The ranking was determined by comparing more than a dozen data points. Each school was also required to meet certain baseline criteria to qualify; the Community for Accredited Online Schools requires all schools to be accredited 2- or 4-year institutions and hold either public or private not-for-profit status. Each college must also offer career placement services to students post-graduation, explains a media release from Community for Accredited Online Schools.

“The first step to becoming an occupational therapist is to earn an occupational assistant degree,” says Doug Jones, CEO and founder of the Community for Accredited Online Schools, in the release. “These schools are home to the best entry-level occupational therapy education programs in the nation, providing a quality education that enables students to either begin working or continue on to Graduate studies and formal certification.”
