AmeriGlide Inc, supplier and distributor of accessibility products and mobility products, has announced that it will be awarding its AmeriGlide Achiever Scholarship to assist in covering the expenses of tuition and books for college students who use a manual wheelchair, electric wheelchair, or mobility scooter. In order to qualify, students must submit an essay detailing their goals and motivations, according to a recent news release.
A scholarship committee will award the scholarship to the winning essay, AmeriGlide Inc notes. The company adds that in addition to the $2,500 intended to help cover the winning student’s tuition and books, the scholarship will award the school of the recipient with a swimming pool lift to assist in ensuring compliance with the new ADA requirements.
The decision to award the scholarship stems from the concept that, “Successful companies need to contribute back to people who need their products,” Jeff Sheffer, AmeriGlide CEO, says.
The release notes that the deadline for submitting the application with the essay is May 31, 2013.
