USAHS Doctor of Occupational Therapy student Hiral Khatri received the Outstanding Student Award from the Occupational Therapy Association of California during its recent Annual Conference.

Hiral Khatri, a Doctor of Occupational Therapy student at the University of St Augustine for Health Sciences (USAHS) San Jose, Calif, campus, has received the Outstanding Student Award from the Occupational Therapy Association of California (OTAC).

The award recognizes a student who has made significant contributions in occupational therapy in the areas of scholarship, organizational activities, community service, and/or advocacy, per a media release from USAHS.

Khatri joined OTAC 2 years ago, and her volunteer work includes her participation in the student, advocacy, and communications committees, as well as social media coordinator.

Per the release, Khatri manages OTAC’s social media posts and is the founder, host, and coordinator of #OTACHour, a Twitter chat held every fourth Friday of the month. She also volunteers during OTAC conferences and symposiums and has begun to work with OTAC leadership to organize legislative meetings and other advocacy events.

OTAC colleagues and committee leaders nominated Khatri for the Outstanding Student Award, which was presented to her recently during the OTAC 2017 Annual Conference in Sacramento, Calif.
