Krige Schabort

Krige Schabort of Invacare Top End’s Team Invacare recently won the Ford Ironman World Championship in Kona, Hawaii.

With a record-breaking time of 9:26.04, he crushed the previous record by more than an hour and finished well ahead of all racers in the Handcycle and Physically Challenged divisions. He was 136th overall out of 1,800 participants.

The competition consisted of a 2.4-mile swim, a 112-mile handcycle segment, and 26.2-mile marathon–with participants battling a strong headwind.

Krige competed using the Invacare® Top End® Force™ R handcycle for the cycling segment and the Invacare Top End Eliminator™ OSR racing chair for the marathon. This was his first Ironman.
