PateDallas-based Pate Rehabilitation recently announced that it has launched a new website dedicated to the Spanish-language community throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Pate notes that the site reflects its ongoing commitment to providing brain injury resources for the growing Hispanic population in the region, as well as sharing key resources for community service initiatives.

A news release from Pate reports that last month also marked the expansion of its Spanish-language therapy program.

According to Katrina E. Belen, Psy.D, clinical neuropsychologist at Pate Rehabilitation, many people of Hispanic origin continue to experience limited access to health care services and difficulty communicating with their providers, “Our Spanish-language website will serve as an important resource to help those affected by brain injury access the information and care they need,” Belen says.

The release notes that all Pate facilities now provide components of the Spanish-language therapy program. Pate’s bilingual physical and occupational therapists, neuropsychologists, speech pathologists, and case workers not only speak Spanish, they also have a vital understanding of the impact culture and language can have on evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment.

Belen re-emphasizes the importance of culture’s role, as it, “defines what we value, what we perceive as normal, our expectations, and even how we think about illness and recovery. Our Spanish-language website and programs enable us to capitalize on each person’s cultural and linguistic strengths to maximize the benefits of rehabilitation.”
