Oak Brook, Ill-based Athletico Physical Therapy is about to grow its presence in the Midwest market to 336 locations as the result of a recent acquisition deal to acquire Accelerated Rehabilitation Centers, headquartered in Chicago. A media release from Athletico announced a definitive agreement to acquire Accelerated Rehabilitation Centers in a transaction that reportedly will create one of the largest physical therapy providers in an eight-state area.
“We’re very excited to combine forces with Accelerated, which will produce a stronger operation and an even higher level of service for our patients,” says Mark Kaufman, Athletico founder and CEO.
Kaufman says the deal will enable Athletico to provide greater support and resources for its employees, reach more patients across a larger geographic area, and expand the variety of clinical services it offers.
According to the Athletico media release, the transaction includes Accelerated and all its brands, including ProRehab and Newsome Physical Therapy. Athletico’s CEO and president, Mark Kaufman, will lead the combined company which will continue to have its headquarters in Oak Brook, Ill.
Athletico reports that it expects the sale to close in the fourth calendar quarter of 2014. Jefferies LLC served as financial advisor to Accelerated in connection with the transaction.
