“PCPs are trusted, viewed as authority figures,” she says. “If we don’t discuss driving with our older patients, the patients may wrongly think that is still OK for them to drive.”

But how to tell which older patients should stop driving is not very clear, Alice Pomidor, MD, MPH, AGSFa professor in the geriatrics department at the Florida State University College of Medicine, shares.
