A live, phone-based news conference will address findings released by the American Orthotic & Prosthetic Association (AOPA) regarding the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ (CMS) current campaign to ensure that unlicensed providers cannot receive payment for providing orthotic and prosthetic services for Medicare beneficiaries. The event is slated for September 17 at 1:30 pm EDT.
According to a news release from the AOPA, the data discussed during the news conference is intended to emphasize reported disparities in the Medicare/Medicaid fraud crackdown. The AOPA states that this data will be outlined in in a new Dobson | DaVanzo analysis of Medicare claims data from 2007 through 2011, which the AOPA says aims to determine the extent to which CMS is reportedly making payments to unlicensed firms.
News event speakers are scheduled to include Rep Glenn Thompson, US House of Representatives, (R, Pa 5th District); Thomas A. Scully, Esquire, Alston & Bird, former administrator, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services; Allen Dobson, PhD, Donson-DaVanzo, former chief of Research Division, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services; and Thomas F. Kirk, PhD, president of the AOPA.
Participants can join the news conference by dialing 1 (800) 860-2442 and asking for the “Medicare crackdown run amuck” news event.
Those who cannot participate, AOPA says, can access a streaming audio replay of the event on its website at 5 pm EDT on September 17.
