The American Case Management Association (ACMA) announces the inception of the ACMA Social Work Fellowship program, which is governed and bestowed by ACMA in partnership with the University of Southern California School of Social Work and Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. It offers an educational experience for social work professionals desiring to expand their understanding of hospital social work and case management practice.

The fellowship is a 9-month, hospital-based program that includes hospital case management training, project work, multi-hospital exposure, research, professional membership in ACMA, a national conference speaking opportunity, and a case management model comparative study. The 2010 Fellowship will be conducted at Cedars Sinai Medical Center under the direction of Sharon Mass, PhD, LCSW, ACM, director of case management.

Applications will be accepted through March 26. One individual will be selected for the 2010 Fellowship through an application process. The Fellowship recipient will be announced after April 9. There is no fee to apply.

All applicants must meet the following criteria to be considered for the Fellowship:
—Masters in Social Work (MSW) degree from an accredited CSWE school of social work
—Completion of a minimum 60 credit /2-year program
—Hospital / health system experience of:
Last year’s field practicum or second-year placement must have been in a hospital/health system, or candidate must have at least 1 year of prior hospital/health system experience (post-masters)
—Fellowship Stipend

The Fellow will receive a stipend of $50,000 as their compensation during the fellowship. In addition, travel expenses related to site visits and conference attendance required by the fellowship will be paid by ACMA.
