From Feb. 4-5, Hanger Inc’s 4,900 employees came together with 310 exhibitors for Hanger LIVE 2021, the company’s annual education conference. For the first time in the event’s history, it was held virtually and attended by the entire company, according to a news release.

Ceremonies and Keynotes

With the theme “Powered by Purpose” and reimagined for a digital audience, Hanger LIVE featured pre-recorded and live content, including an Opening Ceremony video spotlighting patients, and live check-ins with their orthotic and prosthetic (O&P) care teams from across the country. Two keynote sessions featured former PepsiCo Chairman and CEO Indra Nooyi in conversation with Hanger President and CEO Vinit Asar, discussing diversity and inclusion, leadership, and growth.

“In addition to offering continuing education and collaboration with colleagues and partners, Hanger LIVE is a time when we, as a company, pause to reflect on the past year. In 2020, we remained committed to our purpose of empowering human potential together, while leading the O&P and healthcare industries in addressing important issues, from helping foster diversity and inclusion, to the need for critical outcomes research. I’m proud of our Hanger teams, whose strong sense of purpose will continue to guide everything we do as we look to the year ahead and beyond.”

Awards Presentations

As in prior years, Hanger LIVE was an opportunity to celebrate employee and partner achievements. The Hanger Impact Awards, the company’s highest honor, were presented to nine employees who embody Hanger’s values—integrity, patient-focused, outcomes, collaboration, innovation—and whose leadership had an extraordinary impact in 2020 on those the company serves.

The eighth annual Hanger Partner Awards recognized supplier partners whose products help Hanger Clinic teams deliver exceptional orthotic and prosthetic care and empower patients. Partners recognized this year were: Proteor for “Rising Star,” Bulldog Tools for “Collaboration,” WillowWood for “Innovation,” Thuasne for “Operational Performance,” and Blatchford for “Clinician’s Choice.”

Education

Hanger LIVE also included a full day of nearly 100 clinical and business education courses, designed for clinicians and non-clinicians alike. Highlights included courses on telehealth, unconscious bias training, clinical research, the newest O&P technologies and rehabilitative solutions, and a presentation on fearlessness by Molly Fletcher, a motivational speaker and former premier sports agent, for Hanger’s long-running “Women in Leadership” series.
