According to a recent news release from the Baltimore, Md-based facility, CARF International has awarded Kennedy Krieger Institute a 3-year CARF accreditation for a variety of CARF program areas, including Home and Community Services: Brain Injury Specialty Program (Pediatric Specialty Program), and Inpatient Rehabilitation Programs – Hospital: Brain Injury Specialty Program (Pediatric Specialty Program).

Additional CARF program areas include Inpatient Rehabilitation Programs – Hospital (Pediatric Specialty Program), Inpatient Rehabilitation Programs – Hospital: Spinal Cord System of Care (Pediatric Specialty Program), Interdisciplinary Outpatient Medical Rehabilitation Programs: Spinal Cord System of Care (Pediatric? Specialty Program), and Governance Standards Applied.

The release notes that the CARF areas relate to Kennedy Krieger Institute programs that include its pediatric rehabilitation unit, neurobehavioral unit, pediatric feeding disorders unit, International Center for Spinal Cord Injury (pediatric inpatient and outpatient), specialized transition program, and community rehabilitation program.

The release also states that the accreditation decision represents the highest level of accreditation that can be awarded to an organization and demonstrates the organization’s substantial conformance to the CARF standards.
