June 6, 2008

Lee Woodruff, co-author of "In An Instant," the No. 1 New York Times best seller, and a contributing editor to ABC’s Good Morning America, will deliver the keynote address at PT 2008, the Annual Conference and Exposition of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), scheduled for June 11 to 14 in San Antonio, Texas.

Woodruff will speak to conference participants June 11, from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center, Ballroom C1 and C2.

Woodruff earned critical acclaim for the compelling and humorous chronicle of her family’s journey to recovery following her husband, ABC reporter, Bob Woodruff’s roadside bomb injury in Iraq while on assignment. The couple has helped put a face on the serious issue of traumatic brain injury among the millions of Americans, including war veterans returning from Iraq, who live with the condition.

The couple has founded the Bob Woodruff Family Fund for Traumatic Brain Injury, to ensure that wounded soldiers and their families receive the long-term care that they need and help them successfully reintegrate into their communities.

“We are honored that Lee Woodruff plans to share her very personal experiences with our members,” APTA president R. Scott Ward, PT, PhD says. “Her story is one of strength, inspiration, and compassion. All PT 2008 attendees will benefit from her powerful realizations and life lessons. And, I am confident we will leave her keynote address enlightened and inspired to make even more of a difference in our patients’ lives and in our profession.”

PT 2008 will feature platform presentations of original science data collected by authors and presented in 15-minute segments; poster presentations of original science data displayed in the Exhibit Hall; demonstrations on the latest cutting-edge physical therapy technology and equipment from more than 300 exhibitors; hundreds of educational sessions presented by top leaders in the physical therapy profession; access to information on the latest physical therapy clinical practices and research; a resource center featuring the latest physical therapy products and publications; and a variety of networking and social events.
