A Rehabilitation Engineering and Assistive Technology Society of North America (RESNA) webinar presents attendees with the latest advancements in power wheelchair electronics and how these features can offer more function to clients. According to the RESNA website, the “Power Wheelchairs: IR Transmission” webinar will place a primary focus on control of devices in the environment through the power wheelchair using built-in infrared (IR) transmission. This, the site says, allows the driving method to directly control devices, including audiovisual equipment, lights, and simple appliances through the power wheelchair electronics.

The webinar is scheduled for August 11 from 3:00 to 4:00 pm ET

Learning objectives for the course include gaining the ability to list three devices that can be controlled through infrared transmission from a power wheelchair and list electrical components required for infrared transmission through a power wheelchair. Participants will also be able to describe clinical advantages and disadvantages to infrared transmission through a power wheelchair.
