Genesis Rehab Services (GRS) and Power Wellness recently announced a joint venture—the creation of the PowerCare wellness hub.

According to a media release from GRS, based in Kennett Square, Pa, the joint venture is designed to bridge rehabilitation therapy care, and fitness and wellness programs, to focus on both chronic disease management and preventative care. Genesis will join forces for this new business with Addison, Ill-based Power Wellness, a provider of wellness and medically based fitness services.

GRS President Dan Hirschfield, in the release, explains that PowerCare was created to “help providers create a stronger network of population health management, while transparently enhancing a provider’s reputation among healthcare consumers.”

Via PowerCare’s network of hospital systems, skilled nursing facilities, short-stay rehab facilities, fitness and wellness centers, and even an individual’s home, partners will be able to proactively identify and manage consumers’ health changes and potential risk factors. In addition, individuals will be better able to manage their well-being via increased access to rehabilitation and wellness professionals, the release explains.

Jean Brooks will lead PowerCare. Prior to this role, she was president of Premier Therapy Services.

“The aligned values and proven methodologies of these two companies will allow providers to better offer services that are seamless, integrated, cost-effective, and consumer centered,” she explains in the release regarding the joint venture.

“Care communities will form to provide the very best in wellness and therapy services. The vast array of healthy living options will be immense,” she adds.

PowerCare supports the Institute for Health Improvement’s Triple Aim to improve the patient experience of care, improve the health of populations, and reduce the per capita cost of health care, per the release.
