Sunrise Medical, Fresno, Calif, announces the QUICKIE Xenon2 series of ultra lightweight, high performance folding wheelchairs, available in three frame styles—Fixed Front, Hybrid (Dual Tube), and Swing Away.
The Xenon2 features a unique cross-brace that gives the wheelchair a minimalistic, open frame, combined with a more forward axle that provides greater responsiveness and a more rearward axle that provides greater stability.
The combination of the cross-brace and axle are designed to provide the stiff, stable driving performance feel of a rigid frame but with all the portability of a folding one, according to the company in a media release.
“We are excited to follow up on the successful introduction of 7000 series aluminum and ShapeLoc technology offered in our rigid portfolio by extending the same benefits into our family of folding wheelchairs,” says Jesus Ibarra, associate product manager, manual, at Sunrise Medical, in the release.
The folding wheelchair series is designed to be adaptable to the users’ changing needs. The Fixed Front model has a transit weight of less than 20 lbs. The Hybrid (Dual Tube) model features a reinforced fixed front frame, allowing a maximum user weight capacity of 300 lbs. Its dual tube design reduces flex, giving the chair a more rigid ride and greater push efficiency.
The Swing-Away model, the third in the series, is engineered with a reinforced frame with removable swing-away hangers for easy transfers. It also has the most compact folded dimensions for easy portability.
