The Hanger Ivan R. Sabel Foundation, Bethesda, Md, will join forces with the NYDG Foundation and celebrity hosts Mick Jagger, L’Wren Scott, Rachel Weisz, Catherine Zeta Jones, Michelle Williams, Sienna Miller, Jude Law, Helmut Lang, John Currin, Rachel Feinstein, Naomi Watts, Zac Posen, Christopher Niquet, Edie Falco, Margery and Ted Mayer, and EJ Camp to host a benefit and auction to raise funds for Haitians who experienced limb loss during the January 12 earthquake.

The Rx Haiti auction will feature the works of major artists and photographers, designer dresses and jewelry, guitars signed by Mick Jagger and the Rolling Stones, a luxury Yachts of Seabourn cruise, and other donations. Additional items for auction have been donated by musicians Mick Jagger, Bruce Springsteen, Bono, Taylor Swift, Bob Dylan, Bryan Adams, Charlie Watts, Keith Richards; designers Zac Posen, Thakoon, Narciso Rodriguez, Helmut Lang, Calvin Klein; jewelry designers Fred Leighton and Diana Broussard; works by numerous artists; and photographers Annie Leibovitz, EJ Camp, Sante D’Orazio, Jim Marshall, Roberto Dutesco, and Al Satterwhite.

The Hanger Ivan R. Sabel Foundation, in conjunction with the partners of the Haitian Amputee Coalition—Physicians for Peace, the Harold & Kayrita Anderson Family Foundation, the Catholic Medical Mission Board, and Donald Peck Leslie, MD, of the Shepherd Center—founded a long-term prosthetic and rehabilitation center onsite at the Hopital Albert Schweitzer (HAS), an undamaged local hospital with a high clinical reputation located 60 miles from Port-au-Prince in Deschapelles, Haiti. Since its founding on February 22, the practitioners of the Hanger clinic have provided customized prosthetic limbs to 230-plus Haitian amputees. A training program to educate local Haitians to become prosthetic practitioners and technicians has been established.

The Foundation’s aims to enhance the quality of life for those who face physical challenges due to disease, war, or natural disasters, domestically and abroad, by supporting charitable organizations, programs, and volunteerism that improve human mobility.
