The Allentown, Pa-based Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Network recently announced its appointment of Laura M. Shaw-Porter (pictured right) as vice president of human resources. According to a Good Shepherd news release, Shaw-Porter will provide strategic leadership for the human resources initiatives of Good Shepherd’s expanding network. In her new role, Shaw-Porter will oversee multi-year human resources strategies and develop innovative programs to recruit highly skilled nurses, therapists, and physicians. 

Additional duties Shaw-Porter will have in her new role include overseeing leadership training initiatives and assisting in the development of quantitative performance targets for divisional leaders within Good Shepherd. The release adds that Shaw-Porter will also staff the Human/Resources/Compensation Committee of the Board of Trustees.

Good Shepherd reports that Shaw-Porter brings more than 20 years of progressive human resource leadership experience to her new position. Ten years of Shaw-Porter’s experience was spent in the healthcare industry, working with Physiotherapy Associates, and NovaCare Outpatient Rehabilitation. The release also notes that Shaw-Porter served most recently as senior vice president, human resources at Philadelphia Insurance Companies. Shaw-Porter holds a bachelor’s degree is human resource management from Temple University.
