Western New England University welcomes students in the inaugural class of Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD), which is set to graduate in 2020.

This is the only entry-level OTD program in western Massachusetts, and is one of only four programs in Massachusetts. It consists of nine semesters over a 3-year period, including summer semesters, according to a media release from Western New England University.

Dr Cathy Dow-Royer is the program’s director and professor. She was previously director and faculty member of the entry-level Master’s Program in Occupational Therapy offered by American International College.

Asked to define what occupational therapy is, she answers, in the release, “Physicians help people live longer lives, while occupational therapists help people live better lives.”

Students are not required to have a master’s degree before applying to the OTD program at Western New England University—only a bachelor’s degree with a minimum GPA of 3.0. Visit Western New England University to inquire about further requirements for admission.
