body skiSkiing enthusiasts will have the opportunity to engage in Adaptive Skiing Workshops this winter, courtesy of event hosts Helen Hayes Hospital and Belleayre Mountain, Highmount, New York. The events, a recent news release notes, are open to individuals with disabilities and are slated to run in tandem with Helen Hayes Hospital’s Adapted Sports and Recreation Program.

The workshops are scheduled for January 6 and 27, and on February 3 and 10. Two sessions will be included for each day, according to the release. The workshops feature instructors who specialize in adaptive skiing and provide participants beginner, intermediate, and advanced.

The hospital adds that adaptive equipment will be available for skiers with disabilities during the workshops, with first-time students receiving an overview of the equipment and fittings before they take to the snow. The release reports that while lessons are free of charge, pre-registration is required.

Helen Hayes Hospital’s Adapted Sports & Recreation Program aims to offer multiple activities including kayaking, yoga, sailing, softball, basketball, and gardening available to individuals of all abilities.
