Encompass Health Corp announces it has placed land under contract and plans to build a freestanding, 50-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital in Clermont, Florida, to be named Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Clermont.
Complementing local acute care services, the hospital will care for patients recovering from illnesses and injuries including strokes and other neurological disorders, brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, amputations and complex orthopedic conditions. The hospital will provide physical, occupational and speech therapies as well as 24-hour care by registered nurses, many of whom are certified in rehabilitation nursing.
The medical staff will be comprised of physicians experienced in physical medicine and rehabilitation as well as other specialties such as internal medicine, cardiology, infectious disease and nephrology to assist in the medical management and support a complex patient population, according to a media release from Encompass Health Corp.
“This future hospital will help support the growing need for intensive rehabilitation services provided in a hospital setting in the Clermont area. As Clermont’s population continues to grow, this hospital will allow for individuals to receive exceptional rehabilitative care closer to home after a life-altering illness or injury. We look forward to supporting the needs of the community and becoming an integral provider in Clermont’s growing healthcare system.”
— Linda Wilder, president of Encompass Health’s southeast region
The hospital will feature all private patient rooms, a therapy gym with advanced rehabilitation technologies, and an activities of daily living suite, cafeteria, dining room, pharmacy and therapy courtyard.
The planned hospital, once opened, will become part of Encompass Health’s national network of inpatient rehabilitation hospitals and home health and hospice agencies. The Company’s Florida footprint currently includes 12 inpatient rehabilitation hospitals, a hospital under construction in north Tampa, and 19 home health locations. A construction timeline for the hospital has not yet been established.
