Ignite Medical Resorts partners with DIH to bring robotic technology to supplement its already robust rehabilitation program.

DIH recognizes Ignite Medical Resorts as a DIH Technology Vanguard and SNF Center of Excellence and the first SNF group in the nation to offer the Andago robotic therapy to its guests.

“The Andago allows us to mobilize guests much earlier in their stay with us. Typically, with lower functioning guests we would gather two to three therapists and bring the guest into the parallel bars in an attempt to get them into a standing position, but with the Andago and its full fall protection we are able to work with a similar guest with only one therapist. This is safer for the staff, the guest and of course increases efficiency. The Andago safely allows the guest to ambulate and even maneuver over and around obstacles.

— Mathew Thengil, MA, OTR/L, Ignite’s Chief Therapy Officer and Partner

Ignite Medical Resorts is a skilled nursing facility group with locations in five states (WI, IL, MO, KS, and OK), offering luxury and rapid rehabilitation to the short-term therapy guests that they serve. Thengil has nearly 20 years of experience in the field.

“As the Chief Therapy Officer, I oversee the clinical operations of all 10 of our therapy departments,” Thengil adds. “One of my responsibilities is to bring newer, more advanced technology into the hands of our therapists to give our guests every opportunity to successfully rehab and return back to the community as quickly as possible. We are able to accomplish this in two ways: employing top-notch therapists and utilizing cutting edge technology. “

Backed by Years of Clinical Research

The Andago bridges the gap between treadmill-based gait training and free overground walking. The Andago is a robot-assisted therapy device that senses the patient’s movement intention and actively responds while providing dynamic body weight support and fall protection. It actively follows the patient and doesn’t need to be pulled or pushed. The unique combination of self-directed gait, support and mobility enables the patient to walk naturally, which triggers continuous physiological afferent input. It also allows the therapist to focus on the individual’s training in real and safe environment settings.

“From our first meeting at Ignite, we recognized our shared enthusiasm to help individuals recover and enjoy life again. We are thrilled to be a partner with Ignite Medical Resorts and help them pursue their mission of providing the best rehabilitation experience to their guests.”
