Caring.com, a website that offers senior living reviews, announces its list of the best walk-in tubs for 2019. The guide identifies 12 walk-in tub companies based on safety features, style, installation, warranty, pricing, and more.

Many seniors prefer to age in place or remain in their homes as they get older rather than live in a retirement community. However, according to the National Institute on Aging, fall-related injuries among seniors often occur in the bathroom.

With more seniors and their caregivers looking for ways to increase safety and functionality at home, walk-in tubs provide a variety of features to help reduce falls, according to a media release from Caring.com.

“Instead of moving into a retirement community, we find that most seniors desire to stay in their own homes or live with relatives,” says Heather Suri, BSN RN CMC, in the release. “Simple home improvements such as a walk-in tub can help to create a safer and more independent environment for loved ones.”

Caring.com conducted over 80 hours of research and reviewed 54 bathtubs before making a final selection of the best tubs from manufacturers across the United States. Some common safety features among these brands include built-in handrails or grab bars, anti-slip flooring and a low step height for entry. The online guide also examines warranty options, installation and customer service to help consumers determine the best product for their needs, the release continues.
