Physical therapists and other professionals who provide services in skilled nursing facilities (SNFs) or hospitals with swing beds should prepare for the implementation of the third version of the Minimum Data Set (MDS 3.0) recently released by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).
The release includes the current drafts of the item set, draft specifications, and data dictionary. The agency intends to finalize MDS 3.0 by March 2009 and implement the data set in October 2009.
