Kindred Healthcare Inc and Atlantic Health System have put plans in place to construct and operate a 38-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital in northern New Jersey.

The plans were made official when representatives from both Louisville, Ky-based Kindred Healthcare Inc and Morristown, NJ-headquartered Atlantic Health System announced the signing of a definitive agreement to create a joint venture to construct the hospital.

According to a media release, the new rehabilitation hospital—which is expected to open by the fourth quarter of 2018—will offer all private rooms and will treat patients with neurological, spine, trauma, and complex conditions.

“We are confident that our partnership with Atlantic Health System will address the growing need for inpatient rehabilitation services in the New Jersey and New York area as we build and operate a new facility together,” says Jason Zachariah, president of Kindred Rehabilitation Services, a division of Kindred, in the release.

“By joining together with Kindred, we are expanding a service that our community needs and deserves,” states Brian Gragnolati, president and chief executive officer, Atlantic Health System, per the release. “A dedicated inpatient rehabilitation hospital designed to promote healing will bring a higher level of care to improve the lives of our patients and their families.”
