ATG Rehab, headquartered in Rocky Hill, Conn, recently announced that Jay Doherty (pictured right), OTR, ATP/SMS, clinical education manager, Quantum Rehab, Exeter, Pa, will conduct a comprehensive webinar encompassing the proper seating and positioning options to promote positive outcomes in patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). The webinar is scheduled for June 19 1:30 pm EST. According to an ATG Rehab news release, the one-hour webinar is designed to offer attendees an overview of the seating and positioning needs for the client who has ALS and the ways in which seating and power positioning can be used to facilitate continued independent mobility within different environments. Doherty will also emphasize the key role of a seating team and the necessity for all team members to consider each client’s needs presently and in the future.
Doherty oversees the development of complex rehab education programs and offers clinical insight to rehab facilities and equipment providers. Doherty graduated from Quinnipiac College, holds a BS in occupational therapy, and earned his ATP and SMS certifications through RESNA, ATG reports. Doherty served as a staff therapist in National Rehabilitation Hospital’s spinal cord injury (SCI) unit, treating various adult patient populations of neurological and orthopedic disorders, worked for the assistive technology center NH-ATEC, and brings experience as a complex rehab provider to the clinical education arena.
