free SCI_webinarThe National Spinal Cord Injury Association (NSCIA), the membership division of the United Spinal Association, is hosting free webinars throughout January on the topic of continuing rehabilitation after a spinal cord injury (SCI). The webinars will also address getting the proper health insurance plan for people with disabilities. The first webinar will be Thursday, January 16, from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. EDT, and will focus on programs available to people living with SCI after standard therapy is over.

The first webinar in this series will also discuss where to find these programs as well as what to expect and what to know before signing on the “dotted line.” The guest speaker for this online seminar will be Jennifer French, executive director of the Neurotech Network, and Kim Anderson-Erisman, PhD, of the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine.

According to a United Spinal Association news release, the second webinar, titled “Getting the Right Healthcare,” is designed for any person concerned with making sure people with disabilities are properly enrolled in the most appropriate health insurance plan. The webinar will highlight the resources available through the National Disability Navigator Resource Collaborative (NDNRC), which strives to provide assistance and expertise to navigators and enrollment specialists.

The webinar will also profile consumers who rely on the assistance of the NDNRC. The guest speaker will be Karl Cooper, Esq., Program Associate, American Association on Health and Disability. This second complimentary webinar will be Thursday, January 30, from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m., EDT.
