Furthering its commitment to support the initiatives of the HME industry, MK Battery, Anaheim, Calif, is contributing additional resources to help national trade organizations in their ongoing advocacy and lobbying efforts.

The company’s Power for Funding program provides that, for every MK Gel battery sold to HME providers in the United States from May 1 through October 31, 2010, the company will donate $1 to the cause. The total will be distributed equally among AA Homecare, NCART, and NRRTS.

“Our management team is keenly aware of the legislative, regulatory, and reimbursement issues plaguing our industry and have thus made the decision to further support the national trade and professional organizations that are advocating on behalf of the home care community,” said Dennis Sharpe, the company’s HME category manager.

Sharpe said the company aims to make a total contribution of at least $50,000 for the period but that will depend on how many Gel batteries the providers purchase during the campaign. All providers who participate in the program will be acknowledged with a certificate of appreciation.
